Jem Paving and Concrete Rowan CREATEs Job

We teamed up with our long time customer, JEM Paving and Rowan CREATEs to produce four separate HMA mixes. Three of these mixes were fiber reinforced and the fourth was a control mix with no fiber reinforcement. Two of the HMA mixes had Surface-Tech fibers and one had Forta Asphalt fibers. All involved worked closely together to introduce each companies' fibers into the mix as required. Increased oversight was needed to ensure each mix was fully through the drum plant before it was sent to the silo for loadout. Standard testing was performed at R.E. Pierson Materials QC Lab on all four mixes. Once loaded onto JEM Paving’s trucks, the material was delivered to Rowan CREATEs test facility, where the Rowan Team installed sensors in the test strip. Once the sensors were in place, JEM Paving placed the various mixes. Over the next several years, the Rowan CREATEs Team will perform many tests on these HMA mixes, to see if they could become the road materials of the future.
